Terms of Service
Last updated: October 20, 2026
The service
Sipatra is an outdoor social network: you can record GPS activities, share routes, photos and stories, follow other people, and discover outdoor places. These terms are an agreement between you and Sipatra governing your use of the apps and the API.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Sipatra. We ask for your month and year of birth when you sign up; they are never shown on your profile. If it later turns out that you are under 16, the account is suspended and deleted.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you post. By sharing content on Sipatra you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, display and distribute that content within the service, only as needed to operate it and only for as long as you keep it on Sipatra. You are responsible for the content you post and must have the rights to share it.
Prohibited conduct
- Harassment, hate speech or threats against other users.
- Publishing fake locations, spam activities or manipulated tracks.
- Revealing another person’s precise location, home or private places without their consent.
- Attempting to access other users’ private data or to disrupt the service.
Moderation and suspension
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or applicable law. Where reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
Private leagues and organizer terms
A private league is a closed step-race group set up for a company, a club or a community. The person who creates the group (the owner) and anyone appointed as an admin are its organizers. By creating a group or accepting an admin role, you agree:
- Not to use it for surveillance. Race results may not be used in performance reviews, in decisions on bonuses, penalties, promotion or hiring, or to track attendance or working hours.
- Not to make taking part compulsory. You may not pressure anyone to join the group, to appear on the board or to stay in the group, or attach any consequence to those choices. Joining and appearing on the board are each member’s own choice, and leaving is not reported to the organizers.
- To share invites only with the people they are meant for, and to follow the conduct rules in these terms in the group’s name, description and activity.
Organizers approve join requests, remove members and ban people (including former members and people who asked to join), and create invites and races. A race lasts at least 7 days, and a group can run at most 5 races at a time. When an admin is removed, the invites they created stop working. Handing a group over to someone else is an offer: nobody becomes an owner without accepting it.
To run the group, organizers see a member list with each member’s name, profile picture, role and the date they joined. It does not show which alias belongs to whom, or who chose to appear on the board. On the race board everyone appears under their alias, or under their name if they chose no alias, unless they took themselves off the board. Other people’s totals and ranks on the board are updated once a day, as of the end of the last completed day (midnight UTC); only your own card is live, so no one, organizers included, can see your hourly walking, although the board shows day by day how a total grows (in a race tied to a place, on which days someone walked inside it). Routes, location, walking times, the daily breakdown and the reason a member is not counted are never shown to organizers. Leaving is not reported to organizers, but they may notice from the current member list that someone is no longer a member.
If you have not joined it yet, joining a group also enrols you in the monthly public Step League with listing turned off. Members, former members and anyone who sent a join request can report a group to us. We may suspend a group that breaches these terms and will tell its organizers why; while a group is suspended, joining, invites and counting stop.
Disclaimer and liability
Sipatra is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. Outdoor activity carries inherent risk: route data and place information are community-contributed and may be inaccurate — always use your own judgement in the field. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free service is zero.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will notify you in the app before it takes effect; continuing to use Sipatra after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and the courts of Türkiye have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.
